About HypnoBirthing® - The Mongan Method

The HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Method is as much a philosophy of birth as it is a technique for achieving a satisfying, relaxing and stress-free birthing.  HypnoBirthing teaches pregnant women and their birthing companions the art and joy of experiencing birth in a safer, more comfortable manner.  Women learn how to call upon their bodies’ own natural epidural and thus eliminate the need for medication.  When a woman is properly prepared for childbirth and when mind and body are in harmony, nature is free to function in the same well-designed manner that it does with all other creatures.

You will be fascinated as you view HypnoBirthing® videos showing laboring mothers, awake, alert and in good humor as they experience safe, gentle birth--free of the Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome.  HypnoBirthing® teaches a woman how to release all prior programming about birth, how to trust her body and work with it, as well as how to free herself of harmful emotions that lead to pain-causing fear and unyielding muscles.

HypnoBirthing® helps women rediscover their natural birthing instincts.  With most births requiring little or no intervention, HypnoBirthing® moms are aware and fully in control, but profoundly relaxed as they bring their babies into the world.

Course Testimonials

" The main reason I became a Certified Hypnotherapist and HypnoBirthing® Certified Educator was the experience I had with my first birth.  Without knowing anything about hypnosis, HypnoBirthing or any specific training, I believed I could have a wonderful, natural birth experience by focusing on my thoughts.  Sure enough I experienced a natural, painfree birth experience and had a healthy, beautiful 9 pound, 1 ounce little girl. A few years later I became a Hypnotherapist because I KNEW that it worked--THOUGHTS ARE THINGS.  I was soon introduced to HypnoBirthing and felt that I was called to get certified and dedicate my practice to hypnosis with women.  I was pregnant with my second child when I became a Certified Educator and decided to take the class as a participant with my husband so we could have the full experience." Heather N. Thousand Oaks

"I attended the HypnoBirthing® Training in October 2003.  Initially I was very uncertain about how this training and curriculum would fit in the perinatal program I manage. I shouldn't have worried.  I particulary enjoyed the first two days of training when we focused entirely on self-hypnosis.  It was the most relaxing training I have ever attended. Teresa made us feel at ease immediately.  She is open, warm and passionate about her teaching. HypnoBirthing® has now been added to our curriculum and it has filled a niche.  Many of the patients are so excited that they can take the class here and not have to find it at another facility.  Our L&D nursing staff is happy to say that our facility supports the HypnoBirthing Family." Elizabeth Smith, R.N.

“Training with Teresa in becoming a HypnoBirthing® instructor was a rich experience.  Her clarity and delivery of the course is contagious and inspiring. It was a grounding start to the possibilities of my own courses and all the people I will make a difference with.” Denise Spatafora

Course Testimonials

"I had attended several weekend courses in Hypnotherapy prior to taking Teresa's course.  After each weekend I would realize how much I still had to learn but there was no follow through for applying the techniques.  I signed up for Teresa's course hoping to find the missing link.

From the very first session my excitement with the possibilities increased.  Teresa skillfully guided us with a combination of class discussion, demonstration of techniques, case studies, videos and hands on practice with instant feedback.  It allowed me to gain confidence in my ability to practice the ART of Hypnotherapy with a solid understanding of methods that would benefit the client.  I couldn't wait to get started in my practice!!

Once I began seeing clients, Teresa was always available to answer questions.  Her course far surpassed my expectations.  I'd recommend everyone consider skipping the weekend courses and go directly to Teresa for the most effective path to becoming a trained Hypnotherapist." Ellie Shea, R. N., CHT
Torrance, CA

"I confirm that I consider Teresa Van-Zeller to be a professional of high integrity and competence. She is an experienced hypnotherapist who teaches my professional hypnosis training course based on my two published texts from Kendall/Hunt Publishing, THE ART OF HYPNOSIS, and THE ART OF HYPNOTHERAPY. According to feedback given to me by others, she is also an effective instructor of the HypnoBirthing program as well as an excellent instructor of my own course. I give her a high recommendation."
